Park Tool TNS-1 and TNS-4 Threadless Nut Setters

Tools for fitting the star-fangled nut inside a threadless steerer so the top cap has something to thread into. Both fit 1" and 1-1/8" steerers using the standard M6 star nut.

The TNS-1 is the simple one. Thread the nut on, drop it in the steerer and tap it with a hammer. It sets the nut 15mm deep and keeps it straight, and the long handle keeps your fingers clear. The TNS-4 is the deluxe version, with a steel driver and built-in guide that lines the nut up and sets the depth for you. Both use the same replaceable #822 set screw.
